Shimano Stradic FK
Shimano Stradic FK spinning reel comes equipped with Hagane body & gear drive, Super Stopper II, X-Ship, S A-RB bearings, CF aluminum cold forged spool, Fluid drive II, Power Roller II and a Propulsion Line system. Stradic FK is the Yin to the Shimano’s Yang! Boasting superior strength and drag this reel is capable of catching anything from a minnow to a stingray.
Here is a summary of the specifications:
- 6 S A-RB ball bearings & 1 A-RB bearing.
- Aluminum Hagane gear drive.
- 6:1 gear ratio.
- Weighs 6.9 lbs.
- Mono Line Capacity: 2/270, 4/140, 6/110
- PowerPro Line Capacity: 10/95, 15/85, 20/65
Shimano Stradic FK spinning reel comes packed in a protective Styrofoam casing. An owner’s manual is also included. Made with high-quality aluminum and stainless steel this reel will last long enough for you to get worth for your money.
Shimano Stradic FK spinning reel uses Dyna-Balance to enhance smoothness and cut down on rotor wobble. It comes equipped with Power Roller II to help reduce the twisting in your line. It makes all the difference in the world for reducing wasted casts. You will not throw your line directly into the water anymore!
The gear ratio here is at an even 6:1. The anti-reverse technology is great. When you are getting nibbled, you will not need to pull your line to set the hook. There is no more give to your line as the hook will set itself when your bait is hit.
I like the T-handle for its design. The handle feels very similar to the Berkley Series One.
Socorro Spinning Reel
I needed a new offshore saltwater reel and there was no doubt that I would buy another Shimano. I chose the Shimano Socorro 5000 SW.
The Shimano brand uses Hagane gears and that is important to me. It’s a technology that is used for extra smooth reeling. It’s super strong and durable. It helps me bring in the big saltwater fish. As I said, I use it for offshore fishing, but this reel can also be used for inshore as well. Oh, another thing I love about this reel is that it has a cross carbon drag that keeps smooth when I catch a big monster and it starts running.
The specs include a gear ratio of 4.6:1, with 4+1 bearings. The weight is a little less than one pound. The line retrieve is 31 inches and the max drag is 22lbs. I find myself using this spinning reel all the time because I love the way it casts. Out of all the reels in my arsenal, this one has one of the longest casts.
As far as spinning reels go you cannot get much better on power. It has up to 22lbs of drag. Shimano Socorro gets its power from the X-Ship Construction that makes the drag really smooth without sacrificing power. If you hit something big you will definitely feel the power while reeling the fish in. I have caught Flounder and King Salmon on this Shimano spinning reel.
I have had this Shimano Socorro for a few months but what I read while doing my research is that Socorro is supposed to last a long time. Overall, this is the best for the money. You get what you pay for and when buying this Shimano, you get quality!
Ultegra Fishing Reels
I just bought the new Ultegra series reel. It is the Shimano Ultegra 1000. It has the features that we expect from Shimano, such as the Hagane gear that brings in the big catches nicely and smoothly. Shimano Ultegra has the X-Ship double bearing pinion support system, like other great Shimano series.
Of course, I’ll never buy a reel without the Shimano technology that is sealed and keeps out water. I don’t know about others, but this one has something that is called Aero Wrap Oscillation for an easy, controlled and smooth casting of your line. The gear ratio is 6.0:1 with 5+1 bearings. The handle is oversized and reversible. Overall, it is very lightweight and only weighs 7.1 ounces.
Shimano Ultegra carries a 1-year warranty. The warranty pretty much covers only defective parts. The warranty does not cover lack of maintenance, normal wear, and tear, damage caused while using other brands’ products in conjunction with Ultegra, saltwater corrosion, and other such standard disclaimers. Make sure that the serial number remains visible because Shimano will not provide warranty cover if they cannot see it.
Stradic Ci4+ Spinning Reel
Shimano Stradic Ci4+ stands for the material this reel is made from. Ci4 stands for Carbon Interfusion with the 4 being the number of electrons in a carbon atom. According to Shimano, carbon fiber is 250% stronger and 20% lighter than metal. This reel constructed from carbon fiber is strong, durable, and rustproof as no heavy metal is used.
Here is a quick summary of the specifications:
- 6 stainless steel anti-rust ball bearings
- Up to 20 lbs. of drag
- 6:1 gear ratio
- Mono Line Capacity: 6/200, 8/140, 10/120
- PowerPro Line Capacity: 10/150, 15/145, 30/10
When you open your new reel, you will find three things, the spinning reel, an owner’s manual and protective casing to get the reel to you in one piece.
The reel features the Aero Wrap II oscillation system, a Core Protect waterproof casing, X-Ship gear system, Super Stopper II system, 6 stainless steel ball bearings, and an adjustable ambidextrous handle.
Shimano uses its Arrow Wrap II system on top of the oscillation system. As you reel in, instead of an even up and down wrapping of the line, it moves the line up quickly and then down slowly. This creates a crisscross effect on your line. This has actually improved my casting distance.
The spool also helps improve your cast. It has more of a V shape to it. Your line casts in smaller loops, keeping it tighter and more efficient. It also helps reduce backlash.
The power roller on the Shimano Stradic Ci4+ is no joke either. Nothing irritates me more than a ruined cast because of a twist in the line. But this is happening much less with the Ci4+ spinning reel. There are little grooves in it that reduce twisting.
Again, here is our pick of the 4 Best Shimano Spinning Reels:
- Shimano Stradic FK Reel
- Socorro Spinning Fishing Reel
- Shimano Ultegra Fishing Reel
- Shimano Stradic Ci4+ Spinning Reel
I’ve always been a Shimano man. With that being said, along with so many great things, comes change. Shimano, over the years, has been improving. Yes, the style is still sleek as usual, as we have come to expect. But the technology developed and offered to us is now unmatched.
Shimano’s Hagane Gear technology brings in the big catches that we all hope to come home with. The retrieve is nice and smooth without fail. The Shimano Aero Wrap Oscillation controls line casting, again another technological feature to create a smooth and easy experience. Shimano touts that the gears are sealed, and water is kept out.
Shimano did it again and changed the game with the Shimano Stradic FK spinning reel. The price tag may be a little intimidating. But remember with the useful life of this reel you are going to burn through many cheap reels before the FK dies on you. If you break the cost down per year of useful life, you are getting the Best Shimano Spinning Reel for the Money.
I cannot say enough good things here and you will have a tough time finding any negative reviews about Shimano Stradic FK Check it out now for yourself! We hope you like our pick of Best Shimano Spinning Reels. If you have any other recommendations, then let us know via the comments section. We will try to include it in our next update.
